I bought this because I specifically wanted a Toshiba TV. Why isn't important. What is important is, you can do better--this TV is simply not competitive with other brands in this price range or size class. On paper the spec's seem to meet or exceed the competition's but in the real world (e.g. my living room) this set is mediocre at best. If you don't specifically want a Toshiba, but you do want a 37-42 inch TV, or a TV from about $350-$450, this one just doesn't have much to offer.It only has two HDMI inputs (and no ARC), and the component/composite input is combined. It does have a VGA (PC) input and a digital audio input so technically there are four HD inputs, but...the component and PC inputs would have to share the digital audio input. So, you could connect an HD DVR via HDMI1, a Blu-ray player via HDMI2 and an XBOX via component...but if you also have a Wii or PS3, too bad--you can't even connect it via composite because that input's taken. The only solution is to buy an HDMI switch, I guess. You're also at a loss if you ever want to hook up a camera/camcorder, another game console like a PS2, or a laptop temporarily since there are no front/side inputs.The picture is just average, nothing special. I thought with direct LED backlighting it'd be much better. The picture seems dark (especially when the room is dark, perhaps due to the DynaLight feature) and "slow" (motion blur). My other TVs, for comparison, are the Panasonic TC-L42E5 42-Inch 1080p 60Hz LED-LCD TV, which has a much better picture even though it too is just 60Hz, and the Sony BRAVIA KDL32BX330 32-Inch 720p HDTV, Black, which looks just as good if not better even though it's not LED.The sound is simply horrible, the worst I've ever heard from a flat panel TV. Audyssey seems to do no good whatsoever. The sound starts to distort at about 30% volume and even with bass turned all the way up it's seriously lacking. By comparison I'm fairly happy with the sound from my Panasonic TV (above). It's still poor compared to a home theater sound system or even a 2.1 sound bar, but it's far better than the Toshiba's built-in sound. Plus Panasonic has Viera Link which lets you control a Panasonic sound bar from the TV's remote; Toshiba has no such proprietary technology and relies on either a separate sound bar remote or HDMI CEC (if the sound bar supports it).Other than all that, keep in mind this TV has no "smart" features such as Netflix and in fact has no Internet connectivity whatsoever so it can't even update its firmware.Overall, as I said in the beginning, there are better TVs for about the same price, and TVs that are just as good for less. I've owned Toshiba products before and I expected more from this product.

Really, needs more A/V inputs. Could NOT hook up our Nintendo 64 to it, and only 2x HDMI. Needs more component/composite inputs for older systems, I have the Nintendo 64/ and a Playstation 2 that I still use.

I like toshiba TVs. This is our 2nd LCD (well this one is a LED, LCD).Purchased because we needed a new tv for the bedroom and needed an extra TV for a superbowl party. With its primary purpose being a bedroom TV, it didn't bother me that it only had 2 hdmi inputs. Every job has a tool per say, and the other competitive TVs. were more expensive.I thought the picture is excellent right out of the box, same with the color calibration and sound (sound within reason it is a very thin TV).4 stars because the TV i received seems to a slightly bent LCD screen. Toward the top it looks like someone grabbed the TV from the top bezel with 2 hands, and put in a ribbon effect int he LCD screen itself. It also could be the LED edge lighting just having 2 very bright LEDs there. I'm not sure, if the replacement is like that, then i know its a design issue.
