Sharp Aquos 32in 1080p 12/5/10

This is a wonderful time to purchase electronics, if one still has a viable job, that is. If so, then because of the economy and surpluses from retailers, one should get the most for their dollar. That being said, my choice for a 32 inch model in the $500.00-$900.00 range was the Sharp Aquos, hands down. I will not divulge price, but let's just say we were on the lower end of the price range without much haggling at a big box electronics store.This picture is fantastic.! I say that owning 5 other sets, from JVC, to Sharp, and including a very nice Zenith, an LG as well, all high def and at least 27-50 inch screens, I am one of those folks who DO see a difference. The Sharp being brand new was not a fair comparison, but against several other name brands, in the store with the exact same inputs and source material the Sharp still was the overall best in class. The controls are easy to learn, the menus straight forward and clear, and the adjustments make real changes in what is viewed on the screen.This model was introduced in August 2010, and already there is a newer model, that is how electronics are, changes every 6 months. I intend to own this set for years, as the reason for me was the 1080p resolution and the ability to connect my pc. Some complain about the lack of some of the interactive internet features, but for me, when I am on the pc, I am on the pc and not the tv and vice-versa. The size (32 in.) works for me, and the black finish is of the highest quality and does not detract from the set. Viewing is great from virtually any angle and the sound is good and functional from a speaker point of view, most folks will use a theatre system anyway. Once you are in this range, there are subtle differences in the sets from major manufacturers and it becomes a matter of personal preferences, be it Sharp, Samsung, LG, or whatever. I chose Sharp and I am happy with my choice.

Very impresed with this LCD, and I am picky ;)

This latest addition to their small size Aquos sports some PQ improvements over the earlier models.Black level is better, it's actualy very impressive for a LCD this size.Overall, the white level and contrast does suffer a bit, so you do not get that "pop" from black and whitemovies.Blue-ray looks very good, color is natural looking with a few addjustments, edge to edge detail and lightlevel is even, and I could not see any digital noise or artifacts. No pixelation, blocking "rainbow effect"or dot crawling. Just a nice clean picture.You do not get that "Wow" factor whith great looking Blue-ray discs, picture does not have that "3D" depththat you get from the best plasmas, but it does look very good. The general contrast could be better, and thedetail level in dark areas are good but could also be better.The whites do look white, but there simply is not enough brightness to give the picture that nice dimentional,contrasty "pop".With a little adjusting (I setled with "Movie" picture mode) you get good whites with little "blooming" in thecontrasted details.I also have not seen any motion blur or other motion artifacts.The style is attractive and sleek, lots of inputs, and the stand is very sturdy and screwed intothe unit with 4 long screws. The stand does not swivel or tilt, just static.I have not yet experimented with any broadcast materal, so I cant comment on anything but the inputs I mentioned;Bluray and standard upscailling DVD. I also have not used the PC connection.Overall, I am happy with this TV. It is NOT videophile quality, but it's great for my bedroom.Amazon's price is good, you can find better, but this TV is not worth more that $700.00.It's a good LCD but it's not THAT good!! and if your looking for that "Wow" factor, save your money and get a 50''Panasonic plasma. They can be found for about 2 grand or a little under.But if you can get a good deal on this LCD (like $600 to $700) I dont think anything out there can beat this in thesize class.Recommended.

I needed (ok, wanted) a larger-sized computer monitor than the typical 19-24". I decided to go with a 32" TV rather than a computer monitor because of cost. At this larger size, the monitors costs hundreds more than a TV of the same size (PLUS you lose the bonus TV functionality).I did some research. I tested and was very unhappy with the fonts (typeface and legibility) on the Toshibas, Vizio, LG, and even Samsung (gasp!) and Sony (double-gasp!). After returning TV after TV after TV, I almost gave up! But at last I found the Sharp Aquos! Even without Quattron, this baby gave me what I wanted - fonts and webpages that look like I'm using a computer monitor and not a TV with a computer connection. Of course, I had to make a few adjustments here and there, but it was worth it in the end. I only used this Sharp as a TV 6x in the last 9 months. But from what I did see, the colors and details are just fine on the TV HD programs. Buy it or else you'll be one sad panda!!
